Medical School: Touro COM

I grew up in a small town outside of San Antonio called Boerne.  I was raised in a family of six kids and share the love of medicine with many of my siblings. Growing up I enjoyed playing many sports but basketball became my favorite. I am still a die-hard Spurs and was engrained with Cowboys pride from an early age.  I left the haven of Texas to attend college at Brigham Young University in Utah. I took a brief break in school to serve a two year mission for my church in Las Vegas. I returned to BYU to finish my undergraduate studies in exercise science, but found myself forever attached to Vegas. In 2008, it was there that I began my medical school as well as my family. My wife was born and raised in Vegas and was ecstatic to stay there for medical school. We have since added a beautiful daughter, Grace, to our family.

Most of my free time is spent enjoying the company of family, but I still enjoy playing most sports and try to get outside as often as possible. My wife will tell you that I am a nerd, as I enjoy messing with almost anything computer related. However, most of the adventures I embark on these days include my wonderful family.

The thing that makes this residency program stand out from the rest is the people. As a visiting medical student I was impressed by the camaraderie and closeness of both the faculty and residents. It really provides a perfect situation for learning. The program here in Corpus is unique in that it is an unopposed program, meaning you will be able to do as many procedures as you can handle. I look forward to the learning opportunities each day provides and am eager to continue to get to know my fellow residents and the staff. My family has already found many great and wonderful things to do here in Corpus including the beach, the Texas State Aquarium, baseball games, parks, etc.
