Medical School: Rocky Vista University COM
I was born in Ft Campbell, Kentucky and enjoyed the upbringing of an Army brat. By the time my dad retired we had lived in many great places from Texas to South Korea. Upon his retirement we moved back to the family farm in very rural Circle, Montana. This will always be home and for those who have never been to Montana I highly recommend it!
I did my undergrad at a small private college in Billings, Montana called Rocky Mountain College. Here I majored in Biology and Chemistry with a minor in literary studies to mix it up a bit. This is where I met my husband and best friend Eric. Eric and I love the outdoors so any free time you will find us fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, skiing, etc. Now that we are in South Texas we are looking forward to learning to kite surf, surf, and we will definitely be fishing as much as possible.
In between college and medical school I worked as an EMT for a 911 service in Billings, Montana and caught the ER bug. I went to medical school at Rocky Vista University COM in Denver, Colorado which was the perfect place for Eric and me because nothing helps unwind from a med school test like heading to the ski hills or out for a hike.
My fourth year of medical school I was fortunate enough to rotate with Christus Spohn and was shocked at the amount of trauma/procedures available. The attendings are eager to teach and so welcoming I instantly felt at home here. I am in the Air Force and when I got word that I was selected for emergency medicine in a civilian program I knew that Corpus would be the perfect fit for me. The smaller class size and lack of competition from other specialties makes this residency an easy choice as I know in my three years I will see, do, and learn a lot.
