Medical School: A.T. Still University of Health Sciences-Kirksville

I’m originally from a small town near Kansas City, Missouri—yes, Missouri. No, not Kansas and not Missourah. I went to medical school in another small Missouri town—Kirksville. After living in Phoenix, Arizona for two years during my clinical rotations, I realized I don’t like winter, so here I am in South Texas.

Aside from geographic location, I chose CHRISTUS-Spohn for residency for two main reasons—the people and the unopposed program. Residency is tough but these people make it not just tolerable but truly enjoyable both at work and at play. We’re like a family and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. When it comes to being at an unopposed program, it’s a total luxury that I didn’t realize was so important to me until I interviewed here. I don’t know of any other programs where the EM residents run the whole trauma and ICU services except for ours. If you’re looking for a program with fun and happy residents where you’re guaranteed a good education, come check us out!
