Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine

I was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania. From there, I tried to escape the cold and pursued a baseball career in Greensboro, NC. After a career ending elbow injury, and the realization that being an astronaut was probably an unrealistic career goal, I attended the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA. There, located on the campus of Virginia Tech, I became a Hokie, never missing a home football game. After graduation, I wanted move further away from the cold weather and fortunately landed in Corpus Christi for EM residency.

I am an avid sports fan and will watch or play virtually any game. Baseball is still my passion, and I love the Phillies. I am also a fantasy football enthusiast. As a runner, I have been logging approximately 70 miles a week for the last 6 years. I was a sponsored marathoner after college, but cut down on racing while in medical school. I welcome anyone wants to join me for a run.

Mission work is another passion of mine. Internationally, I have spent time in Northern India and the Dominican Republic. I plan to continue doing mission work throughout my career in medicine and I hope to do an international elective as a resident here at TAMU-Christus Spohn.

When it came down to choosing a residency program, my first priority was a very close-knit group, both among the residents and attendings. When visiting Corpus Christi for my interview, it was evident how well everyone got along.  Everyone was clearly happy. Also, there were numerous dudes with sweet beards and silly mustaches.  I was certain I would fit in.

My second priority was location.  I was very happy to learn that I could train in a beach town.  Every day is a beach day with the warm weather we enjoy in coastal Texas. Fishing, horseshoes, surfing...you can always find friends to join you at the beach. It's the best!

Most importantly, the education and learning are incredible here. Without other specialty or surgical residents, we never have turf battles for procedures. We enjoy overseeing the care for every trauma patient ourselves. We care for the entire spectrum of traumatically injured patients, as well as many sick and critically ill patients. It’s an awesome clinical experience!

I consider myself so fortunate to be here. I knew early on in the interview process that this was where I wanted to be. This is the place where I would be happiest. I feel very lucky to be training in such a perfect residency program!
